Amanda's Feel Good Fresh Food Restaurant Celebrates First Anniversary on July 25th

Berkeley, CA / June 2009 - Amanda’s Feel Good Fresh Food Restaurant in downtown Berkeley, California, celebrates its first anniversary on Saturday, July 25. Over the last year the restaurant has become known for fresh, naturally delicious food that is easy on your schedule, wallet, and conscience. Amanda’s has received accolades from the San Francisco Chronicle, East Bay Express, and numerous other publications.

Highlights of the daylong celebration will include free food, entertainment, and raffle prizes, including a year’s worth of weekly meals at Amanda’s.

Beginning at noon on July 25, visitors to the Amanda’s will be offered complimentary organic cookies until 2:00 PM, baked fries from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, and organic apple fries from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM. Concluding the celebration, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, free freshly-made sodas will be offered compliments of the house.

Founder Amanda West launched her namesake quick-service restaurant for diners who want a convenient, tasty, nutritious meal. The menu includes grilled all-natural meat burgers, chicken sandwiches, 100% vegan veggie burgers, freshly made salads, baked fries, raw organic apple “fries” with a honey yogurt dipping sauce, cookies, handmade sodas (sweetened with organic agave nectar), organic milks, and organic/fair-trade coffee and tea. The menu was designed using a nutritional platform recommended by a nutritionist focusing on balancing fats, proteins, and carbohydrates with minimal saturated fat, no transfats, and no corn syrup.

West, who conceived of Amanda’s years ago when working in the natural foods industry, says she created the restaurant to offer quick, delicious, better-for-you foods in an eco-friendly space. She comments: “Our concept is designed to reach both the fast food devotee and the organic shopper.”

“Natural, organic, and healthy foods are often inconvenient, expensive, and unapproachable to most people,” she continues. “We Americans love burgers and fries, but we need a way to eat them that is better for our bodies and the environment.” Amanda’s offers the solution in a restaurant where you can order great tasting menu items that are all 470 calories or less, sit at a communal table made from reclaimed wood, and eat using all compostable serving ware.

Amanda’s is located at 2122 Shattuck Avenue (near Center Street) across from the BART station in downtown Berkeley. Prices range from $1.75 for a freshly made soda to $3.75 for a burger, with a $6.75 combo deal. Hours are 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM seven days a week.
