Shokolaat Restaurant Debuts Cooking Class Series on April 11

Shokolaat in Palo Alto has announced that a series of cooking classes taught by chef/co-owner Shekoh Moossavi will begin on Sunday, April 11.

All classes will be conducted at the restaurant at 516 University Avenue and run from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Class size will be limited to ten people. Advance reservations and payment are required.

The first class, priced at $85.00 per person, will consist of a lecture component and the hands-on production of two recipes concluding with a sit-down meal paired with wine. The lecture will include a focus on knife skills and the recipes to be prepared will an English Pea Soup with mint and pancetta, plus a tomato based Lamb Shank Stew with red lentils and fresh pasta.

Chef Shekoh Moossavi is known for her upscale Contemporary European cuisine with California influences. A native of Iran, she has a degree from the Florida Culinary Institute and has worked for the Ritz Carlton in Florida and in the kitchens of some of the finest restaurants in San Francisco including Acquerello, La Folie and Gary Danko (where she worked in lieu of accepting a position offered to her by the French Laundry). Moossavi, with her husband, owned and operated Gervais Restaurant in Saratoga, California, establishing it as one of the premier fine dining venues in the area.

Since opening in 2007, Shokolaat has received considerable customer and critical acclaim. Accolades have included the San Jose Mercury News naming it a “Best Kept Culinary Secret,” the same paper’s readers selecting it as a “Reader’s Choice” and Wave Magazine choosing it as a “Best New Restaurant.”

Shokolaat Restaurant is located at 516 University Avenue in Palo Alto, California. The restaurant can accommodate up to 25 guests in the dining room and at the bar, with room for 36 more on the patio. Shokolaat is open for dinner Tuesday - Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., for lunch Tuesday - Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and for brunch on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Patisserie is open Tuesday - Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Parking is readily available in a public garage behind the restaurant.
