Earth Island Benefit Dinner at Gather With Authors Howard Lyman and Nicolette Hahn Niman

On Thursday, May 20th, Gather Restaurant in Berkeley will host a benefit dinner with authors Howard Lyman and Nicolette Hahn Niman, the guest speakers at the debut of the Earth Island Presents debate series that will commence following the meal at Gather.

The cost of the prix fixe “chef’s choice” dinner is $50.00 (inclusive of gratuity but not tax) and the vegan menu will be prepared by Gather Chef Sean Baker and served family style beginning at 5:00 p.m. Ten percent of the cost of the dinner will be donated to Earth Island Presents.

Howard Lyman has written Mad Cowboy and Nicolette Hahn Niman is the author of Righteous Pork Chop and is married to Bill Niman, the former cattle rancher turned vegan who started Niman Ranch many years ago. The 6:45 p.m. debate that will follow dinner, titled “Can You Be A ‘Good Environmentalist’ and Still Eat Meat?” will take place at the Brower Center, adjacent to Gather Restaurant, and is co-hosted by VegNews. There is a separate charge to attend the Earth Island Presents debate.
